Diagnostic Testing for HIV: Implementation and Quality Assurance Tips for the Clinical Lab

HIV diagnostics are now a staple in the clinical laboratory. Rapid advances in technology have allowed for drastic improvements in the laboratory’s ability to detect and diagnose HIV. As newer methodologies emerge, it is important for both clinical and public health laboratories to not only incorporate but understand these new applications and their limitations. This program will provide an in-depth overview of the current HIV diagnostic algorithm, future testing and algorithm changes and pitfalls. Additionally, we will describe and discuss various aspects of tackling the regulatory requirements for implementing a new HIV test and incorporating quality assurance measures.
