Join PASCV members, Dr. Babady and Dr. Charnot-Katsikas, for a discussion of viral diagnostics. Using three illustrative, challenging cases, the presenters will discuss limitations and advantages of current clinical virology diagnostics and how a final diagnosis was reached. Clinical cases presentation will include the history, clinical presentation, diagnostic workup, testing methodology, result interpretation and troubleshooting, as well as treatment and patient outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to actively participate in the session through an audience-response system.

Upon completion of the webinar, the participant should be able to:

  • Develop a differential diagnosis of viral infections with overlapping clinical presentations;
  • List advantages and limitations of current viral diagnostics assays; and
  • Learn tips on how to troubleshoot and interpret challenging test results.
