This workshop will provide an in-depth review of patient risk factors, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of opportunistic viral infections in transplant recipients. Topics that will be covered include adenoviruses, BK and JC polyomaviruses, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, antiviral therapy and the challenge of drug resistance. This workshop will highlight best practices with respect to currently available testing modalities, therapeutic drug monitoring testing, detection of antiviral drug resistance, and the future of transplant-associated viral disease diagnostics.
