Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, virology technicians, technologists, laboratory supervisors, laboratory directors, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in diagnostic molecular biology.

Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
1. Describe best practices for validation/verification of clinical assays, including how to define limit of detection and address limited access to positive samples for accuracy studies.
2. Explain the steps that a laboratory might take when challenges arise during the maintenance of an existing test (e.g., quality control failure of new reagents).
3. Define the laboratory and clinical challenges that may be encountered with the implementation of multiplex, syndromic panels used for the diagnosis of infectious diseases.
