HIV diagnostics are now a staple in the clinical laboratory. Rapid advances in technology have allowed for drastic improvements in the laboratory’s ability to detect and diagnose HIV. As newer methodologies emerge, it is important for both clinical and public health laboratories to understand and incorporate these new applications and understand their limitations.
